Happy Father's Day to me. This one is going to be hard to beat.

We woke up early and we all decided to head to church. We decided to walk to the First United Methodist church, which was about three blocks away. As we were walking, I noticed three birds on the sidewalk eating an old piece of pizza. As we approached, the birds scattered. About 10 seconds later, I felt a soft thud on my head. Yes, the bird took a dump on me. My bald head with the strong Texas sun must have looked like a fun target. Thankfully, Christy had some tissues in her purse and let's face it, it's not like I have to go back to the hotel and wash my hair.

The Church service was really nice, as we all had a lot to be thankful for. Prayers were said for us, for the babies, for the birth parents and their families. and for the birds that had so maliciously attacked me earlier.

My father and Christy are both breakfast people. So we sat on a shaded patio at the hotel and had a long drawn-out breakfast.

We went to the hospital around 12:00 and were thrilled to see that James had graduated off of his CPAP machine, meaning that we could finally see his face again. Claire was getting there, but because James had hogged all of the food during the pregnacny, she is a little behind.

At 2:00, we were kicked out for shift change. My dad has hungry and wanted a burger. For once in my life, I was not hungry. We used the GPS to go to BurgerTex, which boasted the best burgers in Texas. When we got there, it was plain to see that they must not have really been the best burgers in Texas. The windows were boarded up and the paint was peeling off of the sign.

But down the road was a little chain restaurant called Texadelphia. I had seen them all over and had been curious as to what they sold. I was hoping for cheesesteaks. My hopes were realized...and not surprisingly, my hunger returned when I started scanning the menu. As we were ordering, my mother (who is always full of questions) actually asked the guy behind the counter "Are you guys Texans pretending to be from Philadelphia?". Now I am not a lawyer, but I could not see where she was heading with this line of questioning...and neither could the guy at the counter. He just looked confused.

After a fattening meal, we headed back to the hotel to watch more of the US Open. At 3:30, we all drove to the airport to drop off my dad. We then headed back to the hospital for a visit. The twins continue to get better and better.

My mother, in an effort to get exercise and be useful, did a walking tour of Austin and gathered take-out menus from all of the places near our hotel.
