Photos for this date
Today was the day to get back to normal. I woke up early, logged on to my work machine and caught up on my neglected e-mail. When
Christy was ready, we headed for a quick hospital visit while my mom was reading the paper down by the pool.
When we got there, we found that Claire had now graduated from the CPAP and we could see her face. In addition, both of them were out of there
Kenny Rogers' Roaster machines and were maintaining their own internal temperatures. They were wrapped up in tight little bundles and
breathing really well.
Christy then dropped me off at the hotel to get some work done while she and my mom ran errands. They went for a soup and salad at
Upper Crust and then did some shopping.
Work was tough to get back to. I kept having interruptions of all varieties. The big one that got me in the afternoon was the final
6 holes of the US Open playoff between Rocco Mediate and Tiger Woods.
I also called and got our room switched to one that had two queen beds instead of a king...in preparation for Nicholas' arrival on Wednesday
morning. I packed up the whole room by myself and moved us just down the hall. I also had to continue adding to this blog, which is
driving me crazy to keep up to date. But I need to get through it so people know the babies are OK.
For dinner, we took my mom to the Clay Pit, which is an Indian restaurant just down the street. Christy and I LOVE Indian food, and we
just recently converted my mother, who steadfastly refused for years. I insisted on having just one beer. I cleverly ordered the
Taj Majal, which comes in a giant 22 ounce bottle. The food was surprisingly good considering I never actually saw anyone of Indian
descent working or eating there....two usual recipes for disaster.
After dinner, back to the hotel. Christy and I went in first. I got to hold James (who is way more fun now that he is not connected
to a million wires) and Christy held Claire. After 20 minutes, I decided to relinquish my spot and allow my mother to come hold James.
This was a tactical mistake on my part, as I was the one who spent the next two hours in the waiting room. I finished reading the paper,
finished the crossword puzzle, and even frowned my way through a Better Homes and Gardens before running out of material. I then
bought a Dr. Pepper out of the vending machine...more so I could play with it than drink it.
Finally, they came out and we went home. Once back, they both went to sleep while I was expected to "put the photos up". I finished at
1:30 AM ....
