Today was a very good day. To try to reverse the 'cabin fever' mentality, I upgraded us to the 2-bedroom (3 room) suite. Nicholas and Mamaw are now roommates (Mamaw actually has a bed now) and can be completely sectioned off while they sleep. The living room once again is opened up for late-night blogging and chocolate chip cookie eating. In the other bedroom, Christy has a reading nook. And there is no longer any confusion should someone need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. They also moved us to the other side of the building, where we have an unobstructed view of the slummy section of Austin.

The move really seemed to perk everyone up. Getting our stuff together and actually moving rooms took up a good portion of the morning. Mamaw, Nicholas, and 'the bathing suit' went down to the pool. I set up my laptop and worked, and Christy did all of the packing and unpacking.

Christy and Mamaw went to visit the babies at 12:00. I am not sure exactly what went on, but a trusted source tells me that my wife of eight years got a little flirty with our children's NICU doctor...McDreamy, I think his name is. Its funny, just the other day I was getting a little concerned because now I have a beautiful wife and three beautiful children. And then there is me....the short, fat, bald troll that Christy always has to 'touch up' with Photoshop. At what point do I just buy a bear suit and wear that for all of the family pictures? Or maybe they all can pose and I can be in the far background grilling or something.

And then today, I am shown a picture of my wife and newborn twins with this very nice doctor who happens to have perfect hair.

So, publicly, I would like to pose this question of my wife: Ok, so sure he's better looking, got perfect hair, he's taller, he's a doctor, he loves kids....but can he eat three 1/2 pound double cheeseburgers from Wendy's in one sitting? How about 12 MexiMelts from Taco Bell? She must be feeling pretty foolish about that picture now.

Christy and Nicholas went out on the town today (with stroller) to tour Austin on foot. They stopped in at the University of Texas bookstore to buy Longhorn stuff. Austin, for those who don't know, is home to the Longhorns. They bought all kinds of cool stuff. I think my favorite are these metallic longhorn-head shaped things that you slap on the back of your car....not like a bumper sticker...cooler than that. And I am not saying that bumper stickers are un-cool...well, actually..I am. If you have them, your wife is probably flirting with a doctor that is not you.

In the NICU tonight, we had a very CUTE nurse who was insistent on telling us airline horror stories. Christy hates to fly, and we definitely have flights coming up...so I asked the nurse not to tell anything that might upset her. So she says, 'Don't worry, this one does not apply to you because it only happened on a trans-oceanic flight'. So she tells us the nice story of how a whole row of seats (and their passengers) were ripped out of the airplane and fell to their deaths because of a faulty door latch. I thanked her for the story and then pointed out how it actually did apply to us, seeing as how having your seat fall out of the airplane is bad, regardless of whether there is earth or water below you.
