Christy called me at 6:30 this morning to tell me she was at the airport...so my day started early. I got up and put in a few hours of work in anticipation of taking the afternoon off. Her flight got delayed an hour, so I ended up having a productive morning. At 11:00, I headed to the airport. I snuck up on her as she was heading down the escalator and took a picture as she was trying to respond to a text message that I had sent.

It is really good to see Christy. Things are not nearly as fun here without her. We are both trying to savor these last few days of calm before the next two years of excitement and chaos begin. She was also very excited to see myself, James, and Claire....but she had a lump in her throat because she misses Nicholas.

Christy had a nice flight down. I used miles to get her a coach seat...but Christy, having tasted first class on her previous flight, was not about to go back to life as a 'commoner'.

As the plane was boarding, she headed back to her 'swine class' seat. She was stuck in between a large man and his rowdy kids. She shook her head and thought 'Not me...not today". After a few minutes, as the swine were getting settled into their mud, she just got up and strolled into the first class cabin and made herself comfortable, just acting like she belonged. I am not sure how, but nobody on this FULL flight seemed to have a problem with this.... Not the stewardesses who would have to pamper her...not the other authentic first class flyers...and none of the pathetic swine. She was never questioned by anyone and enjoyed her free meals, free drinks, and moist towelettes. At one point, she even complained that it was too cold and they adjusted the cabin thermostat, perhaps overheating many of the swine in the rear of the plane.

I never could have pulled this off because I can be quickly identified as swine through any stewardess' peripheral vision. I never would have tried. I am impressed with Christy's brazen manuever. The consequences at stake were not insignificant, as it would have been a tough walk of shame back through the swine class had she been found out. The swine would not have happily accepted her back. But she figured that this month has been rough, so why not take a shot. Well done....

We headed to the hospital, where she was reunited with James and Claire. They were both very excited to see her. They each chomped at their binkies with a little extra enthusiasm....subtle, but I could tell. She fed James while I fed Claire. As we were there, the nurses confirmed that James is ready and Claire is not. Looks like there will be more solitary confinement in my future.

This morning, Claire had a bradycardia when she was just sleeping. In the past, they have only occurred when she was eating (which is not as bad). While this is still considered normal preemie behavior, it is more serious and means that they are not about to let her go. James is not having them at all anymore.

After the visit, we head to Chuy's Arbor Trails again for a heavy lunch. The food was outstanding, as we both are figuring out what to order there. Christy had two giant enchiladas, one with a boom-boom cheese sauce and the other with a jalapeno-sour cream sauce. I sat in amazement as she devoured everything on her plate. She is normally a big eater, but this was a big plate of food....and we had eaten a big bowl of guacamole as an appetizer. Not to be outdone, I polished off my plate containing two enchiladas with queso sauce, a taco, two chicken flautas, rice and beans. I was about to explode when we left. It was wonderful. We both skipped dinner and have no desire for food, even now at 11:26 PM.

After a meal like that, there is only one thing to do. We took a much-needed three hour nap before going back to visit the twins for the night session.

Today's question comes from Mike Hunter, who asks: I saw in the picture that you are wearing a Nats t-shirt from a T-shirt Tuesday game. Which one is it and does it have a witty slogan? I attended my first t-shirt Tuesday on (you guessed it) Tuesday. I got an Abe t-shirt with the slogan “winning races since 1860.”

You guessed it Mike. I was indeed wearing my Washington Nationals' T-Shirt Tuesday shirt. Our esteemed first president, George Washington is on the back, with the question "Who's your founding father?". I actually have two of them because Christy did not want hers. I love wearing them.
