As soon as I woke up, I knew it was going to be a long day. My eyes opened to my wife staring at me with that 'How could you be sleeping when I have planned a torturous day of hard labor for you' look. And so it began....

Christy had experienced a premonition overnight that we would not be returning from Austin as scheduled. She insisted that we prepare everything 'just in case' she was right.

Christy's mom (Karen) showed up early to keep Nicholas occupied with one arm and help Christy pack with the other. I would like to describe exactly what they were doing, but I can't because I couldn't see anything past my honey-do-everything-now list.

I started out in the office, paying bills and catching up on business paperwork. I emptied the entire in-bound mail stack and transformed the laptop into a mobile business unit.

Satisfied with my effort, I dared present myself to the wife again and asked 'Anything else?'. I was instructed to 'fix the storage room' in the basement. For those who have not witnessed the 'storage room problem', we have a sizeable storage room in the basement that was too full of clutter to even set foot in. Even the mice, bugs, and snakes stopped going in there years ago.

The fix for the problem was buying three more commercial-grade storage shelving units and installing them. I had been putting this off for a while, but Christy made it clear that today was the day. So I headed to Lowe's to pick them up. These items are 100 lbs each. On my way into Lowe's, I snagged a flat cart in the parking lot and wheeled it in. Of course, the shelves that I wanted were not available in their usual spot. I had to find a worker with 'forklift priviliges' to bring down a pallet of them from up near the ceiling. It took about 45 minutes to make this happen.

Once checked out, I managed to get them into the car. On the way home, I called my dad to see if he could help me carry them to the basement. My dad was up for the challenge, and he not only helped me carry them in, but he helped me put them together and throw useless junk on them.

Once completed, the 'storage room' looked great and all of the mice, bugs, and snakes were very excited.

Meanwhile...Christy and her mom had finished transitioning all of Nicholas' stuff to his big-boy room and the nursery closet was completely filled with newly purchased baby clothes. I found it ironic that a lot of what I seemed to be moving around in the basement was previously purchased but never worn baby clothes...but I dare not question this. Karen and Christy had also packed a suitcase for our two day excursion to Austin....and a series of large suitcases were set to the side of the bedroom....'just in case'. The secondary set of suitcases had extra clothes for Christy and I, Nicholas, and the unborn twins. Note: The suitcase for the unborn twins was also full of newly purchased baby clothes...are you feeling my pain yet?

Not wanting to appear idle, I went back into the office, logged on to my work machine, and did actual work work for two hours.

Tomorrow we head to Austin...
